CES runs a variety of workshops related to your employment needs. Whether you're looking for tips on how to search for a job in today's job market, researching careers or interested in workplace safety, we have a workshop for you.

Considering Career Options
Exploring Career Options - Part 1This is the first of two sessions which are intended to assist you in making effective career choices. In this session, you will assess your aptitudes, interests, personality and values to best explore your next career path. 6 hours Must be comfortable using computer to complete assessments with minimal support. If not, attend Computer Basics workshop first (see below).
Exploring Career Options - Part 2This session is the second of two which are intended to assist you in making effective career decisions. Using credible labour market websites, you will explore job descriptions, education requirements, wages, demand and more. Then you will create an action plan to keep you moving forward. 6 hours Must be comfortable using computer to follow facilitator lead instruction with minimal support - if not, attend Computer Basics workshop first. Please come with a specific career(s) that you are interested in researching along with questions that you want answered.
Entrepreneurship GatewayThis workshop serves as an introduction to entrepreneurship programs and resources in Oxford County. This workshop is available to participants of all ages, but is a requirement for young entrepreneurs completing the Starter Company program. Come share your business idea, begin to understand the effort required for self-employment, assess your skill set and get more information on what supports are available to you on your journey to becoming an entrepreneur. 2 hours

Networking and Making ConnectionsDon’t just wait for a job opportunity to arise… network! In this session, you will create a powerful introduction and learn effective ways to make connections with employers. Interview Preparation - Step 1Learn how to best prepare for the job interview including everything from mental preparation to matching your skills to the job requirements and preparing for the most commonly asked interview questions. 3 hoursMost beneficial for clients who can identify and provide proof of your key strengths and those required by potential employers.
Interview Practice - Step 2This is your opportunity to practise effective responses to the ten most commonly asked interview questions. Creating Resumes with Impact

Targeting Your Cover Letter

Need extra time or assistance with your job search? Looking for support with your resume, cover letters or interview skills? Having trouble creating a Facebook or Linked In account? Having difficulty applying to on-line job postings? Take advantage of our drop in Job Search Café. Come in prepared with goals on what you would like to accomplish. Take advantage of this welcoming environment and the opportunity to receive individualized job search support.Open for 3 hours,

Fall Protection Awareness

Learn how to be safe when working at heights using the Fall Protection Awareness training program. Must achieve 80% to earn your Fall Protection Certificate.Run on As Needed Basis

Food Handling

Using the "Food Safety Training " 8 hour on-line training program, participants will complete 13 training modules aimed to improve knowledge of safe food handling practices and earn a widely recognized Basic Safe Food Handler Certificate (good for 5 years). Up to 12 hours available – self pacedMust have basic computer skills and an active email address that you are able to access. If not, attend Computer Basics first.
Handling Cash on the Job

Learn and practice effective methods for handling cash transactions on the job. Open, operate and balance a cash register while providing efficient, courteous and accurate customer service.6 hoursnone
Safety in the Workplace

Learn how to be safe in the workplace by identifying hazards, understanding safety laws and preparing to work safely. Certificate. 1.5 hours none
Smart Serve

Smart serve training teaches you how to protect yourself from liability by understanding your responsibilities under the Liquor Licence Act. Earn your Smart Serve Certificate. Up to 6 hours -

WHMISHazardous materials are found in many workplaces. This session will help you to increase your awareness of the WHMIS classification system and how to protect yourself while at work. Complete a quiz and earn a certificate of competency. 1.5 hours None
